Germany to pay additional $300M for Shoah restitution to Israel

“Germany has agreed to provide restitution payments to an additional 80,000 Jews, following negotiations on Monday between Claims Conference representatives and German officials in Washington. The agreement is likely to result in additional payments of approximately $300 million, most of which will go to Nazi victims in the former Soviet Union who have never received payments or compensation from previous German restitution agreements.”

English Euro 2012 football team to visit Auschwitz

“England’s European Championship squad will visit the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau while in Poland next month and will use the experience to educate youngsters about the danger of prejudice. The players will visit the death camp near their Euro 2012 training base in Krakow soon after their arrival on June 6, the English Football Association said Tuesday.”

Egyptians to form new Nazi Party

A group of Egyptian political activists have announced plans to set up a local version “of the Nazi party,” an Egyptian newspaper reported on Thursday.

Citing a leftist Egyptian news portal, the Al-Masry Al-Youm daily said that “the party’s founding deputy is a former military official,” and that the party would be aimed at bringing “together prominent figures from the Egyptian society.”

Moshe Dayan was a soldier in the Haganah, the Jewish defense group in Mandatory Palestine, prior to the creation of the State of Israel. He was a figure in the early days of Israel of its fighting spirit to survive. Dayan embodied perseverance, hope, and strength. After Israeli independence was achieved, he would become a part of Ben-Gurion’s Mapai party. Dayan then served his country as Chief of Staff, Defense Minister, and Foreign Minister.

Dayan gained his notable eye-patch by being struck by gunfire in Vichy French Lebanon as he was looking through his binoculars.
