Signs going up across Jerusalem ahead of Obama’s arrival in Israel urging for the pardon of Jonathan Pollard.
“During the working meeting between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and President Barack Obama this coming Wednesday, the Prime Minister will give the American President a symbolic gift: a nanochip with gold coating, in which the independence scrolls of both Israel and the U.S. are embedded side by side.
“The nanochip will be placed on a Jerusalem stone from the Second Temple period which is normally used for sealing pottery in which liquids and perfumes had been stored.”
“Palestinians have vandalized a banner bearing President Barack Obama’s image just days before his visit.
The Palestinians tore down the banner, hurled shoes at it and spray painted it with swastikas. Associated Press TV video showed a taxi driving over the banner before it was set on fire in the West Bank town of Bethlehem on Monday.”
“Tzipi Livni became Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s first official coalition partner on Tuesday after the two former rivals reached an agreement over outstanding governmental issues for the upcoming Knesset.
“Livni will be Israel’s next justice minister, while her party’s number three, Amir Peretz, will be the environmental protection minister. In addition, a member of Livni’s party will chair an unspecified Knesset committee.”
Likud-Beiteinu youth celebrate the election results as Israel’s number one party, despite the disappointing results as exit polls currently show.

“Israel now officially bans the import, marketing and sale of any cosmetics, toiletries or detergents whose manufacturing process involves animal testing.”
“Starting on Tuesday, female and male models who have a body mass index (BMI) of less than 18.5 may not be shown in the media or on Israeli websites or go down the catwalk at fashion shows.
“The law, also sponsored by Likud-Beytenu MK Danny Danon and believed to be the first of its kind in the world, does make violations a criminal offense bearing a fine. But violators can be sued in court by interested citizens, including families whose relatives have suffered or died due to eating disorders encouraged by images of overly thin models.
“In addition, any advertisement made to look with Photoshop or other graphics programs as if the model has a BMI under 18.5 has to be labeled with the warning that the image was distorted. The warning must be clear and prominent, covering at least 7 percent of the ad space.”
