Apartheid in the Middle East

Where in the Middle East are Palestinians the majority and openly discriminated against? If you guessed Israel, you are incorrect; the answer is actually neighboring Jordan.

In Jordan, Palestinians:

  • are discriminated against in politics and government (there is no Palestinian representation despite Palestinians being more than half the population);
  • are subject to tariffs of up to 200% off basics like cars applicable only to Palestinians;
  • are subject to a 16% flat income tax applicable only to Palestinians;
  • consistently have their citizenship denied and revoked when politically convenient for the leaders; etc.
